To C6 from AOD

To C6 from AOD
I've been considering going from a slowly failing AOD to a manual trans, in an 83 F250, 2WD, 351W - but now I'm thinking of fitting a C6 instead. I know I'll lose OD, but that's not an issue in our hilly area, & I've got a 3.54 axle. I'm more concerned with long-life durability.
Do the selector linkages match up in travel etc, or need changing? ( I realize the dash indicator will need to be changed)
Are there any other problems, differences, parts required etc, other than cross member & driveshaft?
