Hi, im from the diesel forum and am having a problem with the front end of my truck. whenever i hit a bump doing about 40 mph. the whole front end of my truck starts shakin so violently that i need to pull over and completly stop for it to go away. now i have replaced my shocks, gear box, tie rods, linkage, tie rod ends, king pins, and tires. i have a '89 F-350 with 3" body lift and had 35", then 36", now a stock balanced set of 235's. i am completely out of options, any help would be great. thanks
I had a 77' F-150 4x4. My truck did the
same thing. I found the problem to be the
rubber bushings that are located at the
front axle where the coil spring and the
arm connects. There is a 2 piece bushing
for each side that I had to replace. The
stock ones were rubber and the new ones
are poly. The new ones also have a pitch
to correct for the lift. Hope this helps.
cool contractor, I'm not trying to be rood but I think you missed where he said it was only a body lift, all the suspension pieces should be stock? However I think that would change the angle which the "steering joints" connect? Maybe that isn't a problem since the frame hasn't ben raised but the inside of the cab has ben raised? which would probbably "mess-up" at least one angle. I don't really know very much about lift kits, but from what little I do know I dought that the lift is upsetting anything.
I am in the same boat with you logan, i have been spending the last few months trying to find out if a body lift has that much affect on it, and its been 50/50 with everyone i ask as to yes it does and no it dont. thanks for the help
CHECK THE CROSS MEMBER RIVETS I HAVE REPAIRED ALOT OF THESE THEY COME LOOSE COULD BE NEGATIVE CASTER IF SO A SHIM BETWEEN AXLE AND SPRING ON THE BACK TO INCREASE CASTER
