Resistor wire and Data Bus...?
1992 Thunderbird 5.0 and AOD, getting swapped into a '79 F150
Two questions...
First one: There are two wires from the EEC called "Data Bus (+)" and "Data Bus (-)". They go to the EEC test plug, then somewhere into the car...?
What is the purpose of the Data Bus? Can the engine run fine without these wires ran into the vehicle? I won't worry about using these wires if they're not needed.
Second question: There is a small wire connected to the negative side of the ignition coil. This wire runs a short distance and then there is a resistor in the wire.
Is this a tach wire? If I want to run an aftermarket tach, do I need the resistor or get rid of it?
I may be able to find out about the resistor wire if I search long enough, but I've not been able to find out anything about what "data bus" is, or why it goes into the car, not even through Google.
