when i was towing my truck around the block to get it in my drive way when i started the truck for so my freind could use the power steering it was in nurtal the drive shaft started truning rather quick so i killed the truck try agin same thing i end up puting the tcase in nutral them it stoped this dint hapen when i broke my pionon york we wont talk about that what couse case this should this happen when the tranny is in nurtal and not conted to the read end if this post isnt clear i asking should the drive shaft turn when the truck is in nutral
There is enough drag in the transmission to cause the output to turn. As Starmilt said, it shouldn't be turning at speed.

yes the drive shaft will turn at engine speed in neutral with the shaft not connected
all the friction clutches in the trans average about .010 clearence for each clutch plate the fluid that is coating all of the clutches will have sufficient drag to spin the driveshaft
with out it being attached and the colder itis the more drag thats created

Sounds like an old Massey Fergueson Tractor, the PTO always would turn even when off, but if you put your hand on it it would stop.
