Hey all. I was wondering about a few things here. The truck I have has I believe a 1978 460 from a Lin Con. Now the way the belt drive setup is ran is...well to me a bit of a mess. The alt is all the way on the passenger side bottom right next to the frame, and I don't even think its running the correct power steering pump.
I was wondering how hard it would be to find and convert this engine to a serpentine belt setup from a factory 460. I've heard and read that the only difference really between the carbed and EFI 460's were the top end...So If i can find the complete setup from an early to mid 90's would it bolt right up?
If the front cover's are different would I be able to just swap the correct one on...along with the other things like water pump , etc?
I've always been one to like the serp belts better. To me there easier, less stuff to mess around with if I need to replace it, and if for some reason it brakes while driving its just one belt I have to replace...
