Brake lines

Recently after picking up my 5th wheel from being serviced ,Iwent to leave the RV store . I tried to stop the truck&trailer and the pewdal just about went to the floor. Thinking I was imaging things I proceeded on and at the next light the same thing started to happen again. This time I had plenty of time to gear down and use the emergency brake.I immediately returned to the RV store . They told me that there was a brake line on the left rear side leaking. My question being is has anyone else had this trouble The truck is a 2002 F450 crew cab with a 7.3 qwith 65000 miles on it.
Thank you
Mike

Brake lines do corrode, rot or break down in some fashion. It seems to depend on location as to how quickly.

I was hauling a 16ft landscape trailer loaded with trash to the landfill. got it there just fine unloaded, got back in the truck pushed the pedal straight to the floor. had my helper get in the truck and pump the brakes slowly and sure enough the brake line running to the back had a couple of pinhole leaks. ended up using the electric brakes on the trailer to get home. took the wifes car bought some brakeline and fittings had it fixed and on the road again in a couple of hours. if you live in an area where they use salt on the roads in the winter this is one of the most common line issues you will run into. last month the 2 brake and 3 gas lines on my wifes car started leaking. happens to the best of us

My 02 250 had that happen to me. Left side rear brake line rotted out. Had to go to Ford for the part.

My '99' just leaked along the gas tank and frame. But it has 245,000 miles on it. Got to love the salt on the road.
