we had the cold last night, let me tell you does that play hell with the trucks, air brakes are great as long as it never goes below -10.and tonight its going to be worse, sunday afternnon its sposed to warm up some.I'll believe it when I see it.
We`re doing good here now, finally after almost a month of big minus temps we`ve high the plus side. It feels like it`s almost time for the sun screen.........
It`s going to get colder now for a few days then the temps are supposed to moderate to near freezing.
We replaced my 90 Ranger broken rear springs, that went well but when changing the thermostat one of the three housing bolts broke. That took an hour to get the broken piece out as there is not much room to work on it. Hopefully I`ll get some better heat now.
that takes the fun out of any job,but thats what happens when you have steel bolts in an aluminum hole.I think I'll be putting lots of never siez on everything when I put my new aluminum intake on the 302.
I wish Ford had used $.05 worth of Never Seize, it would have saved alot of headaches.......
Makes you wonder why manufactures would not take this simple but very effect step!
ford and freightline both should use a drop or two.its back in the minus 20's here again today, come on spring.got the engine pulled out of the old ford saturday, now comes the task of cleaning 30 years worth of grease and oil of the frame and firewall and get it all ready to paint.
The same here, it`s near -30 but with a warming trend forecast for tomorrow on. If this happens then I will be able to work in my shop, it`s heated but not overly air tight so if it`s real cold I don`t try to heat it.
same here,I went out yestarday to start the clean up and had the heat on for about 20 minutes,it was starting to get warmish but I figured I'd go back inside where it was warm.I picked up a few cans of gunk engine degreaser today, but its minus 20 here still so it will probably be a few days yet before I get that mess cleaned.I have to get some of the wiring out and the steering box, motor mounts etc. before I paint the frame.and I think I'll take the doors of when I do the firewall, and do the door jambs and inside the doors at the same time.
It doesn`t take more than half an hour or so to heat the shop but the tools and everything else is too cold..........
It`s alot nicer working in the shop when it`s in the - teens or warmer.
