Well if I were you, I would start by ripping out the whole front axle and suspension on your truck now. Then I would find a complete front axle and suspension from a junkyard. The best way would be to find similar year F-250 4x4 with everything on it still so you can get the parts you need and know they'll match up. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for everything at the junkyard. Get the steering set up too. Then you just have to mount the shackels to the frame and connect the steering, brake lines, shocks etc. Now mounting the t-case and crossmember is a whole nother story. Most people would tell you not to even attempt this project and I would have to agree unless you really know what your doing. I would also plan on it costing at least twice the amount you figure it will and having your truck out of service a LONG time. But if you go ahead with it good luck and have lots of patience.
Getting the tranny and transfer case from the 4wd truck to fit is the easy part. Ford uses the same crossmember for 2wd and 4wd, stick and auto so not a problem. Bolt it up, put in the matching driveshaft and away ya go.
As far as the front suspension goes, the 4wd F250 suspension isn't a bolt-on. The front shackle for the leaf spring mounts through the middle of the frame; to put this on yours some fab work will need to be done. Oh yeah and the Twin Traction Beams aren't the same length as the Twin I Beams so the mounts for those will either need to be acquired from a 4wd or built.
there is a post way back in mid 2000( may or june?) that details putting 8 lug parts on a 44. i think it involved some gm parts.
it may be under off-road and 4x4 section.
