i got used one on JY for free.. not tha axe, but diff. only becouse axe was bent with overloading ore acident... Pulled out diff on JY. swaped at home.... but I changed clutch pack inside diff.
A real pain to ajust pinion and ring gear. I did it with pice of paper... but at the first ride I got zzzz noise. Did ajustment againe.... less noise... well. the third try was successfull.
P/S. I did it on my aerostar... donor - seems to me it was ranger.... axe had mounts for leaf springs. But seems to me to swap axels is not a good idea. Aero axe is wider. reweld mounts is not so easy work. so I did diff swap.... and it was not so easy. i was really sorry that I started this deal. week of work. so try to find good LSD axe.
I would buy and have bought the detroit tru-trac. It's a gear driven lsd that needs no modifires. It is very street friendly and grabs like a bear when you need it. I have a gear driven unit in my ranger now, but it's made by torson (same principal) it's awesome. I have the TT in my wrangler and old ranger. The ford trac loc is useless and has clutches to wear out, where as the torson and TT do not and they grab better. Eaton makes the TT for the ford 8.8 and 7.5. It runs a round 430.00$ and well worth it. It pays to shop a round for the best deal like anything.
