well, i installed the lil heim joint in my clutch pedal today. good fix . no play in the pedal now . the only problem is the safety start switch hits the lil heim joint and wont let me push the pedal all the way down ( about the last 1/4"). i've done away with this switch on other vehicles, but this one has 4 wires. anyone know how to bypass this switch? i'm thinking i'll end up breaking the switch by pushing the clutch in over time and the it wont start .

That switch is actually two independent SPST switches in one "module", thus the four wires. According to my FSM, the green and tan/blue wires are for the clutch "interrupt" switch for the cruise control, which opens at the top of the pedal travel. The two red/blue wires are for the starter switch, which closes when the pedal is at the floor. You could try jumpering those two wires, and see if the truck starts regardless of the pedal position. Usual caveats, disclaimers, etc. apply; kids, don't try this at home, yada yada.
thanks for the info.
i forgot the cruise control is hooked up to the clutch . as it turns out when i cut the eye off of the clutch rod i cut it a little long. i was worried about cutting it too short. all it took was a little adjusting . no more hitting the switch. wow , the clutch feels real tight now.
