always learning from FTE

question on 4x4. I have auto hubs that don't work like everyone says. My question is can I turn to manual lock and run all the time while not engaged. Or do I have to get out and turn to manual every time I need to switch to 4X4. Great site. Thanks for your help!

Once you lock the hubs manually, they will stay locked until you manually unlock them. You can then switch the transfer case when you need 4x4.

So running around with the hubs locked will not hurt anything? Only need to switch in and out on dash.

Might lower your fuel economy, but won't hurt a thing. A lot of folks lock them in the fall and unlock in the spring.

I have Warn Premiums on mine and leave them locked most of the season, no problems. I plugged off my vacuum lines to prevent leaks.
Oh yeah, welcome to the site and hang around.

depending on how much you use four wheel drive it is good to run the hubs locked some to keep things lubed.I have had two pinion bears fail from non-use
