Can any of you tell me where the ECM is grounded? I would like to check it to try and get rid of some RFI noise. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Truck info is in my sig line.
Todd, my shop manual only goes to the 02 model year. I doubt that it changed but would not be willing to bet my PCM on it. I will bump for you for now. I will post up the 01/02 PCM wire diagram if you want when I get a chance, a bit later.
EDIT: BTW, IIANM it grounds via a pin through the harness. Are you prepared to run that down?

Absolutely, I have been doing this type of electrical diagnostics and installation for years now. I am hoping that someone can point me to where it grounds to the body or frame as well as which pin it is so that I can determine if I need to go farther. I would have traced it out, but I have run out of time for this week. Thank you for the help, if you wouldn't mind posting the schematics in the next day or two I can look them over and decide if I can use them. I won't be looking into this any farther until monday, so there is time.
Umm I couldnt find and ECM For you on oasis I did find the PCM ground though which is probably what ur seeing but its ground 101 on the driver side engine compartment mounted to the top of the fender towards the windshield, there is a ground on the bulkhead/firewall that is for ground 100, so 101 the one you need is the first one in front of that on the fender (uses bolt) hope that helps
Sorry Todd. this one slipped by on me. I have read that the PCM has a ground via a mounting screw and a spring that is commonly lost. I somehow doubt this as I have lost nothing and seen nothing of this spring. The PCM is mounted in a plastic frame so I doubt that. Before I send the diagram, don't folks take care of radio RFI on the power leads to the radio?

Mine has the copper spring (I guess that is what they call it) it fits in a slot on the plastic frame and onto the bottom mounting bolt the PCM casing fits up against the other part.

No worries at all, things happen. Yes, typically you do take care of RFI on the power lead of the radio. But, in some cases you have to dig deeper to eliminate it. In this case my problem arises when the ignition is turned on with the engine off. This typically leads you in the direction of the ECM/PCM ground.

I had completely forgotten about the little metal clip. I will check that tomorrow and see what I can find.
Todd, the previous poster was correct. It grounds via ground 100 and 101. Those are not the pin #s on the block though. I actually was able to pull up an 03 wire diagram. PM me your email addy and I will send what I can. BTW, what issue are you having and trying to fix. May have been done before.
Here is what I am trying to solve.
I have installed a CB radio with all new power and ground cables direct wired to the battery, new antenna coax, new mount, and new antenna. Problem is absolute crystal clear signal when the ignition is off, TONS of RFI when the ignition switch is turned on and the engine off. Installed a noise filter on the power lead to the CB radio. Grounded the antenna mount to the frame, the bed to the cab, and the exhaust system to the frame. None of these have solved the problem. Again, the engine is not running when the problem starts and it is also present with the engine running. This is not alternator noise, as the noise does not change when the engine is running. If anybody has any suggestions, I am open to them.
Do you have any gauges? I noticed that one of them causes random interference on my scanner around the 150-154 Mhz range. I'm not sure which one causes it, but pulling the power fuse for the gauges stops the noise. This only started since I ran a 4 wire trailer cable up the a-pillar to power some future stuff on the roof (I think its acting like an antenna).
