Hi, FYI, I'm sending this from Baku, Azerbaijan (formerly part of
the old Soviet Union. I have a 1992 F-150 XLT (Northland Edition)
with the 8 foot bed. The previous owner had a camper installed and seems like he added some extra leaf springs. I dont have the
camper but those noisy leaf springs are there. Any ideas on how to eliminate the noise without removing the springs (I have a
26 ft tow behind camper/trailer back in the states). Any resesonable suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Bob (First time Ford truck owner)
If the noise is from the rubbing of the springs together, I've heard of adding teflon strips between each spring to make them quiet. I heard that some spring shops offer this to help add more movement and better ride quality.
Thanks for the info. It definitely sounds like the springs are
clanging against each other. The roads are so rought you can
hear the truck coming 1/4 mile away. Will check out the spring
shops.
the noise is caused by the added leaf spring rubbing against the main spring as shops dont install the teflon in between each leaf as they definately should
i have the same problem with my 95
Anybdoy know where to get the teflon and how much it costs,
not to mention is it difficult. Being over here in part of
former Russia it isnt that easy to get things fixed or done.
Ill have to probably order whatever is needed via the net.
