Hello,
I own a F-350 bucket truck, (cherry picker), and every time it rains hard, I am unable to run the Onan generator that powers the bucket lift. The generator starts fine, and will run as long as I keep the starter button depressed, but when I release the starter button, the generator immediately quits. There are actually two starter buttons, one located at ground level and the other located in the bucket, but the Onan acts the same regardless of which button I use. After a few hours of dry weather, the problem usually goes away and the generator runs fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?
You might try some WD40 around the electronics, it will displace water that could be shorting out the system. I have to assume there is a switch for run and a push button for starting, perhaps one of the switches is shorting out when wet and the engine thinks it's getting a kill command.
