So, I was going to add the off road package to my ordered truck, but waited a bit too long and now it's scheduled and locked. So, I am going to order the factory skids and bolt them on myself. I know a couple of guys here have done this. Any tips on making it easier. It looks like the transfer case skid needs 4 nuts and bolts but the tank shield only needs the 6 bolts and replaces the factory straps. Is this correct? A tutorial would be great from anyone who has done this.
Straps don't come off on the tank. Other than that you have it right on. I got mine from FTE parts guy for a pretty good price. Took about 1 hour at the most to put mine on one evening.
Thanks. I couldn't tell about the straps from the diagram. Sounds like an easy install and now I don't get stuck with the crappy Rancho Branded Shocks.
That is what I did with my 04 F250. I ordered the skid plates for the transfer case and the fuel tank along with the factory bolts and nuts. The factory nuts slide over the frame and make the install a breeze. The hardest part of the job was moving the skid plates around on the driveway to get them into position. In 04 I think I paid 250 approx for both plates and hardware, it was less than the FX4 package and the only thing missing was the FX4 stickers. Those did not matter to me because I removed the 4x4 stickers ten minutes after the truck was home.
Thanks for the input Desert. I hear you on the decals. The 4X4 one will be gone on mine in short order. I like a nice emblem. Stickers are just cheapo to me.
