Thumbs up Interesting setup for performance and torque...

I got the latest issue of Engine Masters (man I love that magazine) and it had a combination that really interested me. They had a ford stroker 327 shortblock that was originally made for forced induction ONLY having 8.5 compression, Victor junior heads (2.05in and 1.60exh valves), dual plane rpm air gap intake, 750 speed demon carb, XE266 Hydraulic roller cam, and 1 3/4 long tube headers....made 386 pounds of torque at 4400 rpm, peak hp was about the same at 6000 rpm.

What if you put the same combo on a 351 with 10 to1 compression? I would think at least 450 pounds of torque and enough cam that would still be able to rev to 5500 or so. What do you guys think?

cam specs are:

*Advertised duration: 266 intake/274 exhaust
* Duration at .050 in.: 216 intake/224 exhaust
* Gross valve lift: .544 in. intake/.555 in. exhaust
* Lobe separation: 112 degrees
* RPM range: 1,600-5,600<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

In order to go further with this, let's get past the numbers for a second and talk about what you will be using it for?

Before we go there, I will comment on one concept that you may not yet have considered. When you increase the cubic inches with the same h/c/i, the torque and horsepower peaks will shfit to a lower RPM. Because of this, there will be better combinations for that particular CI application.

To me this is just a badly mismatched combo, low CR, big heads, too much carb and intake, and the TQ peak at 4400rpm proves it. What good is that?

Put the same heads and cam on a 9:x 351 with a long runner EFI intake and 1.5" longtubes and you get well over 400ft lbs TQ at 2000rpm and 350hp at 5000rpm, now that's truck power!!

thats what im talking about, with this combo making the bigger torque down low with the bigger cubic inches for a truck. And it still being a performance upgrade

Here's a DesktopDyno prediction for the combo I'm building, the picture pretty much says it all..

Sweet nice setup! Hey, can you put the info in to see what kind of numbers it says for the combo I listed above only on a 351 with 10 to 1 compression?
