The Ford mans curse!!
#17
Actually The F150 is the only Ford truck that's out sells Chevy, some times the explorer. remember GM owns 60%+ of the truck market. In all fairness I see the same amount of old GM as do fords trucks on the road. You need the learn something Dodge,Ford and Gm guys are all the same you just don't hear yourself.
Do you have the actual numbers of the breakdown for the different models???
I know you're right that GM easily outsells Ford in the light duty trucks, but I I've never seen how many 1/2 tons vs 3/4 vs 1 ton.
And Ford does count all "F-series" in their figures.

In all these years that Ford has claimed "F-Series" as best selling, I've never seen the breakdown for 150's, 250's, 350's 450's, 550's.....etc..

My turn to jump on this soap box, I've been a Ford guy all my life, well for the most part. yes i did own a chevy, once upon a time. It just didnt hold up. My Fords all have rolled hi miles with very little work being done to em. Even when they did break they got me home. I owned a 86 F-150 with a line 6, i rolled just shy of 300,000 miles on her. i sold her and the guy put 1200.00 into her and IS still driving her today! Out of that $1200. was a new set of tires & a oil pan. so you see the rest was piddly stuff. Over the past 6 years I've swaped my F series trucks for Bronco's, for work & play. I like the short wheel base with the V8. It turns tight and pulls like a mule. Some of what I've owned down thru the years: 29'truck, 66 T-bird, 70 Mach 1, 71 F-250 camper special, 79 F-100 stepside bought new, 82 Bronco, 83 3/4 super cab, 80 something Escort GT, 86 F150, and now 89 Bronco, 90 BroncoII and my pride & joy my 96 Bronco. This stems from when i was 15 and I'm now 50. There is a story behind each of these but i dont have time to go into all of them. Yes i get razzed all the time from my buddies that are devoute chevy lovers. But its funny every time I turn around who's truck is in the shop with a problem? from front end issues, to tranny & shift problems to rearends? not my blue ovel. But let me develop a P/S leak, it's ohh that hunk of junk ford is bleedin all over! But when they're stuck, broke etc, who do they call?...yup ..ME & MY bronco! I'm not here to sling mud, everyone has there like's & dislikes. Thats what makes the world go round. But If i get smacked in the face with "Found On Road Dead" my favorite come back is, "Better then your "Shove-it-or-leave-it-lay" ( say it fast, you'll see what i mean.)
Yes I'm a Ford man and proud of it, If you cut me, I bleed blue. Ok I'm gettin off the soap box, NEXT!!??
Keep Em' Twistin'! Bob B.

i hear ya twistin...
i had a 88 F150 with the 4.9 inline six..that dam truck had just under 500K KMs on the original engine and tranny.. sure the truck was loose as a goose in alot of areas from teh sheer amount of miles..
but it NEVER broke down, and was as reliable as a tractor.. prolly should have just kept it i suppose, hahaaha..

In my experience, this kind of attitude is prevalent amongst younger guys, those who feel
the need to compete with other guys and feel themselves better because they've got a
(sometimes self-perceived) louder stereo/sexier car/bigger dick/whatever. It's an ego thing.
And, there are more performance and go-fast parts in the mass merchandisers (e.g. Pep
Boys) for Chevys than Fords, making it easier and more socially acceptable to go that route
and bash everybody else.
I've seen that attitude wane off when guys hit their mid-30s and other priorities have gotten
a hold of 'em by then.
I also grew up with Fords and have owned nothing but, it's a bias I picked up from my
father.

These days, the new trucks are much closer than they used to be.
I like Ford trucks and I like Dodge trucks. I wouldn't own a GM due to there crappy electronics and electrical systems. The LSx engines are some of the best out there, but the rest of the truck is crap.
Some people are too brand loyal to the point that it makes them idiots.

you know they say 9 out of 10 chevies are still on the road today........
I guess 1 finally made it home!
I love it, everytime im around someone who is a chev lover and starts going on about the greatness of their car-esque truck I say that first line in a real supportive, agreeing type manor...then add the last bit.
If it werent for their IFS in the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and mullet haired history i might like a chev truck.
The prevailing aftermarket for chev engines just makes it that much easier for some dumb sack to buy some crap and a cheapo wrench set so he can put a new top end HCI combo on his 3-fitty and proclaim himself to be a seasoned gearhead.
These are also people who build 383s when chev built a 400 that will drop right in place of a 350

i really dont care what others drive. Just leave my BLUE OVAL alone. I dont rag others as im pulling them out of a mud hole. Ive used my 2wd to pull many a dodge 4wd out of mud holes and never been stuck once. My neighbor was a huge Chevy fan until the day i pulled his buddy's 3/4 ton Chevy out of the mud in his back yard. Now he has a F150 sitting in his driveway. HMMMMMMM wonder what happened there. I owned a 05 Dodge and it was in the shop more then it was on the road.

This is true. A lot of older guys who drive Chebbies don't talk "smack". In fact, when they find out I drive an I6 powered F150, the typical answer has always been "Oh!!! You mean the big six, the 300? Yeah I used to have one when I was a kid.. Man I couldn't kill that thing. Darn good motor. Would pull like an ox, too." <--- Notice the words "Ford" were never used. A good thing is a good thing. Ford, Chebbie and Dodge all have their virtues. I just prefer Ford.
212,000 miles and rolling on strong, baby.

Probably true, but you have a hard time convincing most of us old schoolers that of that each dollar that the car generated, 68 cents of it goes back to tokyo......some of us will never be able to make the distinction that its still a foreign make.
