I have an '05 Escape XLS 2.3L 4WD with 105,000 miles on it. I drive about 30K a year and was considering an extended warranty. Just basic aftermarket warranties I hear can cost about $1600.00 for an additional 100K miles. I haven't shopped around too much or read much of the "fine print" yet. I've never had any problems and have kept up on the maintenance schedule. Does anyone have any experience or advice one way or another?

One would do better to set that $1600 in a savings account dedicated to vehicle repair. Then add an extra $100 per month to it. If you have the vehicle paid for, add one half of what your monthly payment was. You may never need it, and if not, when you are ready for a new vehicle, voila! you have the down payment!
