blackout problem

blackout problem

Looking at a 2006. Did Ford fix the OD blackout problem or is that still an issue. Also are there any major issues with the 2006 model I should know about? Any info appreciated.

Not sure if they did on the 06 or not, even if they didn't it's an easy fix.

Pardon my ignorance as to what OD blackout is, and I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but the LCD on my stock stereo (99 Expy, 5.4, 2x4) is dead, and the words "easy fix" caught my attention. The radio is still functional, just doesn't display anything. Likely not the same thing as OD blackout, but thought I'd ask, just in case, since a dark stereo is such a nuisance.

It has to do the the odometer display dimming or even going completely dark. Here is the mother of all threads for the problem and it's repair.
