I have a constant knocking or ticking sound from the engine, does anyone else have this issue? I read something about cam phasers, kind of sounds like rocker's hitting... Thanks for any help.
I will bet money that it is going to be the cam phasers. It sounds like a diesel when idling. Take a 3 foot piece of heater hose and put one end next to your ear and the other near the front of the valve cover while the engine is idling. You should hear the noise very loud at the front of the valve cover. If it is the lash adjusters the noise will be louder as you move down the valve cover towards the back of the cover.
If it is the phasers, it is not really a big problem. A lot of people on here have the noise with no problem with a lot of miles on the engine. Some people have had it fixed at considerable expense only to have it come back in about 10k-20k miles. My 04 has 60K miles on it and does it off and on depending on engine temp and outside temp. I have had no probs with the engine.
