So, who has any experience with using helper springs on their truck? I have wondered about the progressive rate ones that do not affect your normal driving, but come into play as you load the vehicle. Is this a cheep and effective way to help combat heavy bed loads and trailering?
Helper springs work but stiffen up your ride significantly even if they are sold as "progressive".
For the front end I'd consider replacement stock springs in a higher spring rate instead of any sort of helper spring. For the rear end consider using air bags. These can be inflated when you need the load carrying capability and deflated when you don't need to carry a load.
