Trailer Brake Module?

I have a 93 F250 460 Extended cab long bed 4x4... my question is, are trailer brakes built into this? And if not what is the best module for a 10000-12000 pound trailer?

Thanks

I believe you mean do you have an integrated trailer brake controller. Not being raised with Fords, I could not tell you, but I tend to think not. I remember hearing integrated controllers being advertised a few years ago as a new option on the Super Dutys or something...

Or hes asking if the wireing is there.
93 may have the wiring if the truck has the tow package.
My 95 had the plug under the dash for the brake controller but I ended up running my own brake feed wire cause the blue in the harness ended at the firewall.
I think in the 90s they were pretty hap hazard in the wiring of these trucks untill 97-on.

you mean that even if your truck doesn't have an brake controller, there is a chance the wiring is already there and just needs to be connected to? Never knew that... cool.

Should be right under the ash tray power point outlet and things like that.

While there may be factory wiring I highly recommend installing new wiring right off the battery. Any factory wiring will be old and inadequate, The power of the trailer brakes is directly related to how many amps you can get to them, and with a trailer that heavy you will need all the brakes you can get.

does this require putting a sensor on the brake pedal, or a sending unit on the brake fluid for pressure or anything?

That depends on the brake controler you buy. Most of them these days just use an accelerometer and a connection to your brake light switch to control the trailer brakes, these would not require any of that.

You could still use the factory wiring for brake light signal and just run a new power wire and brake output wire since those two are really the two that must carry the current to the brakes. If the factory wiring is 12-10 gauge I would think it is big enough.
