engine block heater noise?

Question engine block heater noise?

hey guys plugged in my heater block in for the first time last night left it plugged in all night about 10hrs, my question when i first plugged it in to the terminal and plugged the cord to my outlet inside of the house the engine block heater is making a low level hissin sound as best as i can describe it. is this considered normal?

When I plug mine in I always wait for a few seconds so I can hear it start to heat the coolant, even immediately after shut down you can hear it come on, however I don't think it makes any noise after that first bit.

Wow 10 hrs. It must have been really cold to need it on for that long. I use a timer and have it turn on about 2 hrs (at 10 deg) before truck is needed.

I usually leave mine plugged in all night whenever it is plugged in, usually about 8-10 hours.

About 2-3 hr before you leave is good keeping plug that wear it out quicker at all I do 2-3 hr before you will get warm air from the heater the sound ok when you do not hear it burnt out

every block heater i've ever heard does that when you first plug em in

I can hear mine start to cook a few seconds after plugging it in. I always have a listen to make sure it's working.
