Hey all,
I installed my 3 inch body lift this weekend, and because of the stupid bed bolts, I ended up having to take the whole bed off the truck. Last night after I finished and got home, I realized I have no tialights, turn signals, but I do have brake lights.
I'm guessing it's just a bad ground, but I was confused because the brake lights light up. So I figured I'd ask what ya'll think. It's freezing outside so I want to know what I'm doing before I go out there and try to fix it.
I'd check the connections where you disconnected the harness. Use some contact cleaner and dilectric grease and reconnect the harness. Since the brake lights work you have a ground path.
I actually disconnected the ground last night at 3am, after I got home from work and still had lights, how strange! I unplugged and plug in the connector a couple of times, and got my turn signals working. Still no tails or liscence plate lights.
Went and bought some contact cleaner today, sprayed it, got the heat gun out and made sure it was really dry. plugged it back in, and now I have no lights at all. Checked fuses, they were fine. So now I have no idea what to do.
After further examination.... I realized when I kept plugging and unplugging the connector the wires were so brittle that I actually cracked and broke a couple of them.
I finally accepted that the cold has defeated me, and since I have family gatherings to get to this weekend and need my truck, I had to make an appointment to take my truck in and have them fix it for me.
