Are you 100% sure the '96 is OBD-2? Only trucks under 8500lb GVWR got that in '96, everything else retained OBD-1 EFI systems. If the '96 indeed has OBD-2 then all the wiring has to change along with the computer, the 2 systems cannot be combined.
the 96 may not be obd2 its over 8500. everything looks the same I'm thnking it should unplug from one and in to the other. i'm going to check part numbers on the computers.
OK got both cabs off both truck are down to rolling frames.
the only difference is my good power train truck is a E4OD and my cab is set up for a C6 from what I can tell the wires are in the steering collum for the od off button. so i'm thinking that all I need to do is change shift levers and computers and plug it all back up.
I think I'm correct in saying the E4OD has its own control harness that plugs in too the passenger side of the trans. an then connects back to some plugs close to the fuse box under the hood. and the shift points are controled by the computer.
