Source for OEM (quiet!) muffler?

Call me a curmudgeon, but I want to replace the Flowmaster and dual-tailpipe with the chrome tips on my newly-purchased 2002 4.6 F150 4x4 with a stock, quiet, single-tailpipe exhaust. I left my son's Cub Scout meeting the other day sounding like a high-school kid, should've just torched them off in the school parking lot for the full effect.

All on-line searches seem to come up with "performance" (louder) mufflers. Is there somewhere I can get a stock, quiet muffler? The dealer lists the stock muffler at almost $300. Can that be right?!

Check out our 22" Wickedflow mufflers. Those are about as quiet as performance type mufflers get. It might be a tad louder than stock, but should be entirely tame. Even our smaller Wickedflow mufflers are fairly quiet, depending on what they are used for. Most of our customers are thrilled at how quiet they are. I like yourself, don't want the exhaust too loud. I run a 5 series Fullblown on my daily driver, and while louder than stock, its not too bad. Sounds to me like you want something quieter than that. The Wickedflows are quieter than Flowmaster style mufflers, and the larger the muffler, the quieter it is. Dual outlets are also louder than singles.

Thanks for the tip, I assume I should go to Bear River Converters for the Wickedflow mufflers?

The stock system is my baseline reference, but if a larger muffler than the tiny Flowmaster and single rather than dual outlet gets me significantly quieter than what I have now, then I'd probably be satisfied. Price is also a consideration, sure, I could take it to the dealer and spend $500 converting back to stock, but I'm not stupid...

Check out a local junkyard...might get lucky and find one in good shape. Don't know if the can be unbolted or cut off though.

Too bad you are so far away. I have from the cat back stock in my shed. It came off my 1999 5.4 extended cab F250LD. You could have had it been there for 9 years.

Unfortunatly you aren't closer to me, I have my orginal exhaust just sitting in my shed. EDIT: Lol^^

If you like the look of the dual tips on your truck but also want it close to stock, buy something like this. If they are fairly quiet like Bear River said then this would work well.

If you do take your's off maybe I could take it off your hands. I am looking for a performance system. If only we lived closer we could just swap. I wonder what ground shipping would be?

I was wondering the same thing... but I bet it would cost quite a bit, unless you wanted to chop it up into 1-2ft pieces.
