My dad owned an '89 F250 2wd dually with a 460 and E4OD - it was usually parked inside and it rusted out in 10 years! Of course I live in Michigan where there's more salt on the road than snow... Overall good trucks.
salt? snow? what are these things? It's 60 degrees outside at 9:45 a.m. Southern folks don't do cold weather.
OK everyone, any ideas on how to pitch this to my mother so that I don't wind up dead? I've got to sell my old '63 Ch*vy C10, which would bring me down to my daily driver Mazda 3 hatchback, my '71 El Camino, and an F250( hopefully). Dang.
UPDATE:
All is lost. Just called the owner and he said he sold the truck two days ago; that would explain why he hasn't responded to my email in 2 days. Dang it. Well....... another one bites the dust. Crap. Back to the drawing board for a truck.

You mentioned that your mom is paying for your car insurance. You must be a youngster. You sound quite motivated, keep lookin. Great Ford trucks are everywhere.
I hale from Maine where rust rules. My brother in law jokingly but very seriously said that he'll never buy another used Maine truck. He's shopping in Texas next time.

This is truth. I paid 2k for a 92 longbed 5.0L with 150k on it. Runs like a beast still though. But the bed was SHOT, not just the wheel well's either. There were holes the size of my fist in the bed when I took the bedliner out. So we made a custom flatbed and flatbedded it. Looks sick.

That's real cool man, better check your brake lines and such. They don't like salt much either
