I Have Found A Ford Truck That Has A Factory Mounted Onan Generator Mounted Under The Hood , I Am Looking For Some Infoarmation On This Truck. What Its Worth , How Many , Where To Find Parts , Any Info Would Be Great
I'm a new user here myself, but I do believe the factory mounted Onan generator under the hood was called the "Contractor's Special"....The fender apron that it sits on was special to that truck only as the generator will not fit on a standard fender apron...I don't know how many were built, but I do know they're very rare now, especially in original working condition...I'm sure others here can help you more with the details---welcome to the site!
simon is right it was part of the contractors special, yes it will not fit with the normal apron, there are a few parts that you can buy from Onan still. Price for the unit it self well i bought one from Canada for $300 with no mount and no apron, oh and it doesnt run. the apron is not redaly avalibe.
This truck runs well , the generator also runs. it is a f 250, 3/4 ton 4 speed manual. trying to find someone that could give me an idea what its worth to sell
find a truck that is for sale in your area that is close to yours (other then the generator) and then add 500 to a grand on top of it. just a guess on the price of everything for the generator.
Hector, Thing is you have a 70 F250 with a generator. To be worth more you will have to find a buyer that wants a near 40 year old truck with a generator.
While everybody aint got a generator, there aint many looking a 40 year old truck with a generator. So while you got something special, that aren't a lot of buyers for it. At the moment folk aren't buying, they are holding on to the few bucks that they have.
I am only offering a little reality check, not trying to pee on your shoelaces.
I am trying to sell it for my neighbor she is 75 and lost her husband last year. just trying to get what i can for her where would i go to list this truck. any special site ?
One way to test the market would be to eBay it, I guess...You'd get the most for it if you were to find one, ...well, actually two, '67-72 Ford truck junkies that would just have to have one--and let 'em try and outbid eachother...The fact that it is unique and cool and original are pluses---but the market for those who would appreciate it's rarity is very small...I doubt any kind of a price guide, were there one in existence that came close to evaluating our trucks reasonably, would even list a "Contractor's Special" in it's value guide...Still, I think you have a cool truck and good luck with it....
