hey guys,,,really need some help with this one. I got a 1996 f150 with 5.0.
The truck stay parked for 4 months, now it won't start. Turns over good, occasionally hits like it wants to start. I pulled a plug wire, it's got spark.
changed throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, cleaned egr, cleaned throttle body, changed distributor cap and rotor, changed fuel filter. Fuel pressure is at 35. Smells like unburnt gas after turning over awhile. This is really getting to be annoying. HELP!!!!!!
do you hear the fuel pump? hows the gas in it? does it have gas? dual tanks? switch tanks yet? if you don't hear the pump on with a key cycle, get some one to crank it while you bang the tank with a RUBBER mallet, stupid little things, good luck and post back we'll get er to run
Whats spark look like? Look like a strong or a weak spark, strong spark should be blue, and weak one will be a yellowish/orangish looking.
Try spraying some starter fluid in intake track, while cranking. Just be sure to hold the throttle opened when doing it. If it starts then you have a fuel problem.
The fuel pump does run for a few seconds when the key is turned on. I put 5 gallons of fresh gas in when i first tried to start it. The spark does have a yellow color to it. Thanks for the replies. Really appreciate it
