wondering if someone has had this problem.i replaced rotors/pads and bj's about 5000 miles ago and now i'm getting a grind noise from the left side and a knocking sound when i depress the pedal on the right.i can't tell if the right side grinds because i can't hear it.the van stops straight with no pulling and steers straight. i was thinking maybe the pads were moving on the calipers but local brake/muffler shop says everything looks good other than light scoring on the rotors.any help anybody? thanks dennis
thanks club wagon. i'll look into the rad arm bushings.the bj's and bearings are new.i did check bearing tightness and it is ok.never thought of the rad arm.the knocking started only when i braked in reverse and now occasionally in forward.wonder if it's caliper piston? rotors aren't blued or cracked.might be easiest to put it up and spin the wheel while someone applies the brake.
Sorry, you left me wondering how you checked the "bearing tightness"? Did you "put it up"?

Don't recall a "caliper piston" being involved w/knock sounds. Loose fitting brake pads can knock. Never heard of a worn out caliper yoke, FORD uses robust parts. Worn out shock bushings can knock.
club wagon, i did put it up to check the bearings. this weekend i'll be able to work on it and go over the front end.i suppose i could have gotten a bad ball joint.when the knock first started i thought it sounded like it was suspension related not brakes we'll see. thanks for the tips on the shocks. dennis
