simple question

First let me thank you guys for the help with getting my 87 started and out of the field. Second is that some sort of throttle position senser on the left (driver) side of the IP my 87 has one its an auto but my 84 doesnt its a standard. So I figure its something to do with the trans but not sure what to look for at the parts store.

Sounds like the vacuum modulation valve which supplies vacuum to the C6 auto trans depending on throttle opening. If you do a search here there is a post describing how to test it with a vacuum gauge. However the first requirement is for your engine driven vacuum pump to be good and put out around 18in of vacuum.
