Hey everyone,
Yesterday I was on a trail in the woods and I had my truck in 4Hi and my overdrive light started flashing. Once I got out of the woods I took it out of 4WD and unlocked the hubs and it was still flashing. I turned it off for awhile and drove home with no light flashing. Today after hunting I had it in 4Hi and the light did not flash. Was this just a freak thing or is there something to it?
Thanks everyone,
Drew
There is a problem with some wires being chaffed in the column that causes the light to flash. Your probably just at the beginning of the problem. With a little luck, electrical tape could hold it off for a while.
I don't believe so. I remember reading about that you can remove some trim and see the where the wires come out of the shifter assy. Some where near this location, the wires are being stripped from the movement.
Mine started flashing when my trans blew..hopefully thats not it.
Yeah thats what my buddy's Dodge did when the tranny went but this only happened in 4WD and I only have 80,000 miles on the truck so I would hope its not the tranny.

Does it feel like the trans is slipping or the shifts arnt like they used to be? It fairly common for the 4R100 to fail with that many miles on it.

It shifts as always and shifts into overdrive just fine too. Thats why I was thinking it had something to do with the truck being in 4WD. I sure hope its not the trans.

It might just be the wires then. Hows the trans fluid smell? does it smell burnt at all?
