Has anyone tried one of there suspension lifts for a 1989 Ford F-150 2WD? Is the ride more rough than factory? Any comments are welcome about there product.

I'm not too good on the pro comp setups, but I believe they are fairly close to the same ride quality. If you are just getting blocks to put in instead of replacing the springs then it should be the same. Most lift kits just give you the blocks for the rear. But if you are worried about it being too rough I believe they sell an EZ-ride system with less stiff springs, at least I know some companies do. But if you are going for too soft of a ride remember, it's still a truck!

LAST EDITED ON 02-Nov-01 AT 11:54 AM (EST)[p]I have their Stage 2 kit on my 93 2wd and love it. The ride is alot smoother, and I've noticed no drawbacks such as increased body roll or bump steer.

One thing I will note is that the 2wd and 4wd kits are the same. The only difference is that when installing on a 2wd, you'll have to use the spacers between the I-beam and Radius arms (on Stage 2 kits).

Also, if you want your truck to sit level instead of "@$$-high", here's the trick: with the 4" lift you need NO rear blocks or add-a-leaf (use the recommended rear kit for the 4" when installing the 6" kit). The reason for this is that the 4wd TTB is 2 inches thicker than the I-Beams. So in essence, on a 2wd truck they actually offer 2" and 4" kits. Also, everyone elses kits are the same in this requard, except for the Fabtech kits (which are really pricey), so don't think its just a ProComp thing.

For tires, I wouldn't go bigger than 33's unless you want to add a body lift. The 35's will clear with the 6" kit, but you will get some bad rubbing anytime you hit a decent bump with the wheels turned. I found this out the hard way. This hasn't caused any damage other than some worn off paint on the fender lips, but it sure is annoying to hear all the time after spending all that $$!
