I searched for this, but didn't find it here. I found lots of info on upgrading, which I will do later, but I'm in a bit of a hurry, and just want it fixed for now, and don't want to buy a whole wiring diagram for one piece of info. I need some help with the wiper switch on my 66. PO cut off entire connector (or multiple connectors?) from the back of the switch. There are four wires; black, red, white, and light blue, and all four go directly to the wiper motor. I can only assume that there must have been another wire coming from the accessory position on the ignition switch, but I dont see one, so I'll have to add that one myself. Basically, I just need to know which wire goes to which connector on the switch, It is a 2-speed system, and it doesn't seem to have a washer switch on the wiper switch.
Thanks!
Lee, Since we have no way to tell what is there now, grab a tester with a bulb in it and you can have it figured out in a couple minutes.
The power goes to the motor and if memory works, I think it is orange. The black wire is the ground, leaving you with a slow speed, a fast speed, and the last is the hot wire feeding the switch. Pretty simple.
Thanks! But again, all four of the wires that are now at the wiper switch (lt blue, red, white, and black) go directly to the wiper motor. one is low and one is high, but I need to figure out how the park circuit is wired. The power comes from another wire.
Have pic of the circuit, not sure if you are set it up to receive FTE email, or as a 'newbie' required to have certain number of post/threads before permitted to receive; whatever the case, if interested, email me either using the FTE internal email setup, or my email address. I keep the pics in my 'photo alum' for a about a day so copy as soon as possible.
Couple days ago my wipers on my 65 would not work, happened in the past, found once cab warmed up the wipers worked again. When time permits, intend cleaning contacts on both the motor and switch; clean and apply little dialectric grease, suspect condensation from the truck setting causing resistance. Likely will end up replacing switch if it continues.
