I posted last wee about the issue I was having with my '73 Ford F-100 and not being able to get it started. At first I thought it might have been the fuel pump and checked it and it was pumping gas, replaced fuel filters still nothing. Now the carb was rebuilt a couple months ago and I had been having trouble with the front adjusting screw on the carb with gas bubbling out. Its a Holley 4160 getting a little frustrated. Any help would be appreciated.
FRONT adjusting screw? Its not a 4160 if it has front mixture screws, its a 4180. Are you talking about the screw on the top of the float bowl? That is the float bowl adjustment/needle and seat. Whack the thing with a hammer(GENTLY) to dislodge the crap keeping the needle and seat from sealing. You can take the needle and seat out to clean it. Pull the float bowl site screw off and see if gas pours out. The fuel level should be at the very bottom of the screw hole, and nothing should come out.
If you have gas coming out of the bottom of the carb, you have some issues. Either a blown power valve, or an internal leak of some sorts. Can you post a picture of where the gas is coming from?
My pickup has that problem too. :/
I've managed to get by with just explaining to people upset by it...
"I'm sorry, but my pickup's retarded and it didn't mean anything by it staring at you"
...and so far got away without any fistfights.
I truly believe it's their problem tho, I mean, why are they so paranoid about
being stared at by a junky old pickup anyway?

ps- anxious to see what your carburetor trouble turns out to be :)
yeah I know my spelling was off but anyhow, just don't know what is going on it is possible that it is the pump but there is fuel in the line from the pump to carb? Also it could be a choke issue?
