Spade terminal on starter

The search option is giving me errors, so let me ask the question here. Lately, after the 1992 F-150 has been sitting outside for a day in the cold (19°) and snow, I jump in to start it and it either sounds like a dead battery (really slow crank), or no crank. I climb under the truck, remove the wire at the top of the starter, put it back on and it starts right up. I seem to remember reading about this terminal being a typical problem. Do I need to remove the starter to replace this? Or should I cut the wires on the female connector and replace it? I cannot see from underneath the truck as to what the problem is. Not sure if it is corroded or what.

new starter come without the spade.

i find cleaning them with a wire brush and crimping it once a year has helped.

or replace the starter.
