Hello, some of you may have seen my posts in the 73' to 79 forum. I know many of you are dead set against lowering a pickup from what i have read in other posts, but here is the deal... this is a 79' 2wd f100 shortbed that has never carried a twig, and never will. i am a hot rodder through and through. i am planning to lower this truck with bolt ons, ala the DJM beams and a new spring/shackle/shock combo. I also have a 93' lightning that i lowered only days after its purchase. i bought the AIM components, but they were so poorly crafted, i threw them in the swap meet pile and lowered it with a Bell Tech kit. My question is this? To those of you who have lowered such a truck, are there any specific problems i should be aware of? i want to modify this truck as little as possible. What size tire and wheel combo do you run. i am thinking about using 20"s front and rear? thanks for the input, ***** fomoco
Having been around alot of trucks that year I've never heard of any problems.I know you need tie rod relocators with certain kits and you need to get all your parts from the same company for the front.I've looked around some and can't find any wheels larger than 16s for these trucks. If you know of any please let me know.Don't worry about the bashing from the other forums about lowered trucks,I've gotten used to it and usually get a laugh from it.I like'em dropped on the ground and handlin' like a 'stang. There's something about hangin' with a z28 thru a curve that just rocks!!!!Go for it,and post some pics when you get done.
