When I did mine I put AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants / Source of the World's Best Synthetic Lubricants
There was a test done independently of all the different fluids including gear lube ....and Amsoil was at the top of almost every one.......Royal Purple did not fare very well.....I will see if I can find the link to the results

Study of Automotive Gear Oils from www.oilshopper.com If this is the test you are talking about it IS NOT independent. It was paid for buy Amsoil.
I used to have it bookmarked....but I cleaned it out somewhat and must have deleted it
