SIPED Tires ??
Siping done to a tire will reduce treadwear, while increasing traction on slippery surfaces significantly. The extreme are new generation snow tires like Blizzak's, lotsa siping combined with soft rubber makes them wear out real quick on pavement. All the non-factory siping I've seen on tires is cheesy, just a single diagonal line cut across the whole tread repeating every 1/4 inch or so. Usually reduces treadwear by 1/3 or so IMHO.
