I have a 87 f 150 with a 300 in it. the tires that i have on it now are 31's and if i turn sharp they will rub the fender so my question is if i got a 2 or 3inch body lift would this take care of that and if i got a 3inch body lift is that enough to put 33's on it?
I had a 3" on the truck. 33'S will fit bit tight. Noreal room for articulation. 32'S would be better. On my truck it would rub the frame, at a sharp turn, with 11.5 tires. It never rubbed the fenders even without the body lift. Since then I have added a suspension lift and alot of other things. Best bet, 3" body lift and 32x10.5x15. If you get a body lift e-mail me at jrjohnson717(No Email Addresses In Posts!), and I can give you a few tips on the process to make it easier and faster.
I have a '95 F150 w/300 (soon to be 351W) also with a 3" body lift. I have 33s on my truck and have no problems rubbing. I have a friend with the same truck with the same lift, wider tires and his rubs. The tires that I have are 33x10.5x15s, I'm not sure but I think if you put the 33x12.5x15s on it they might rub the frame. Stick with the 10.5 width or go with the 32s.
Two things to remember when putting that lift on, first with the 300 the lower radiator hose will contact the smog pump, resulting in antifreeze everywhere. You will need to extend the radiator hose down about 3". The second is if it is a manual tranny, you will have to cut the floor to allow for the shifter to go into all gears or make an extension for the shifter. I choose to make the extension.
If you do put the body lift on, remember that it is a good time to replace all of the body bushings. The stock ones are cheap, and you will have to do it eventually.
