i wanna get this amp installed tonight cuz its my last day off for a while.. i bought this Diesel Audio NS-KIT Amp Installation Kits and my car stereo doesn't have the outputs so i needed this Boss Audio B65N Amp Installation Kits,Multimedia Accessories . first thing is how can i get the car stereo out so that i can install the outputs.. 2nd the amp kit is way more complicated than my last one. so any help on installing it would be great.
The boss thing is called a LOC (Line out converter). It takes your speaker level (speaker wires) and converts it down to pre-amp (RCA) voltages. I assume the amp is for a subwoofer, so I would connect the LOC to the rear channels of the headunit. I'll post the wire guide at the bottom. This will give you the RCA outputs, then the patch cables to amp.
The install kit gives you power distribution options. You don't have to use them, but do use the fuse holder. If you want to use the full kit, first make sure the new battery terminal has enough outputs, I think it should for a stock wiring setup. Cut off the stock battery terminal, and put the stock wires in to the new terminal. Put your 4ga into the new terminal and find a suitable spot for the fuse holder, 6-18" from the battery. Connect the 4ga to the fuse holder and run the rest inside. Where the 4ga runs short, your going to have to use the distribution block and run 8ga from the block to the amp.
Because your using the 8ga to the amp from the dist, you can use 8ga for the ground.
2000 Ford F Series Stereo Wiring
Constant 12V+ Light Green/Pink
Switched 12V+ Black/Purple
Ground Black/Green
Illumination Light Blue/Red
Dimmer n/a
Amplifier Remote Blue
Antenna Right Front
Front Speakers 6" x 8" Doors
Left Front (+) Gray/Light Blue
Left Front (-) Tan/Yellow
Right Front (+) White/Light Green
Right Front (-) Dark Green/Orange
Rear Speakers 6" x 8" Rear Corners
Left Rear (+) Orange/Light Green
Left Rear (-) Light Blue/White
Right Rear (+) Orange/Red
Right Rear (-) Brown/Pink
You will only be using one output from the dist block. And if your like me, the 4ga will be about 4' too short, so you will use most of the 8ga provided.
alright yah my last one was just the 4 gauge with a fuse holder and a ground cable.. well and the rcas.. but i got this one and thre was way more stuff in it. alright and what can i used to unscrew something if i dont have the right size allen wrench.. you would think that they would give me the one i need
I miss read your post. To get the radio out there is a Universal radio removal tool (but it's mostly only ford who uses it), they are a pair of u shaped keys. The keys press into the square (round pegs into square holes, like it should be) holes in the radio, the little nipples on the keys lock into the retainers. Push the keys away from each other and pull the radio straight towards you.
You don't need the tools, but you will damage the clips if use a coat hanger, allen wrenches, or anything else that can be jammed into the holes. Mine are damaged because I can't make the keys work correctly. So I pull the dash off and press the locks in from the back side.
great lol.. ReAX didnt you say there was a way to get it out.. i tried the allen renches but it feels like i need to have 4 in at a time and i can only feel it push in . not out to the side
so were back to where we were in the last forum lol.. i couldnt get the dash off. i still have the 3 screws above the instrument panel out. just dont wanna pull it
Yes, you have to move all four clips to get them to disengage. If you can get behind the dash facia, you can manipulate the clips by hand. Drop the column shift down to 1st gear, turn the key back off, put something over the column and pull the facia out and away from the dash enough to get to the clips. the two large metal clips on the radio have to be push towards the radio so it can slide out of the hole.
You can pick up the tool at best buy or many other places that deals with radios. You might even find a set at the chain parts stores. However if you've already jammed wrenches in there, they are damaged and you will have to pull the facia to get the radio out any way.
I'd have to see it to be sure, but look above the instrument cluster for screws, if they are there remove them. Look at the sides too, near the door. If it goes across to the other side, open the pass door and look for screws, if it does go across, I'd expect one screw on each side. Once you have the screws loose, put the shifter in first, grab the dash and pull. The dash is held on with these push clips. With the proper amount of pressure they unsnap.
