Smokes when not plugged in

Ok some of you may know I was having an unknown problem with my truck smoking on cold start ups. Well here is a picture of after it sits overnight without the block heater plugged in.

I plug in the block heater and let it sit over night I get no smoke on start up!!! This is making me believe its my dang well man glowplugs?

me thinks you hit the nail on the head with a big fat sledgehammer.

but remember, even with BERU gp's, you will get a touch of smoke on startup for a few seconds with a cold block.

When the block is cold, even though the glow plugs get it started the cylinders are way to cold for complete combustion until it runs for a while.

The block heater adds a lot more heat to the cylinder temp than you would think.

Well, we're in the 20s here, and mine smokes like a house chimney (literally, I got a stack), by the time it drops off the fast idle smoke's gone - like Dave said, tis just cause of the cold, nothing to worry about really.

Mine smoked just like that until I found that the cold start advance circuit was unplugged at the temp sender.
