Here is everything that seems to be acting up on this truck.
It is hard to get to start and hold a solid idle. Once it gets idling it either has a 200rpm fluctuation around 750rpm or so, or it idles high, like around 900rpm. When i unplugged the IAC one of the times it was idling at around 900 it calmed down to the right idle speed. Also in a light acceleration situation it sometimes wants to stumble right as im giving it a little more petal. And that is just crusing around the neighbor hood, so when i say light petal im talking speeds under 25mhp.
I want to say its an IAC but it seemed very clean and if the idle is erradic then it must be cycling and working. It seems that something is telling the IAC to work incorrectly. Could it be a bad TPS or an O2 sensor doing all this? Could i reset the computer and get it to relearn the idle and have it go away?
I need help. i dont just want to throw parts at it and end up spending 10 times what i need to on a simple problem.
ill try it. If that doesnt work. is ther any where else i need to look? Because ive been 95% sure a part i was getting was going to fix a prob and it still did the exact same thing it was doing.
If you get a stumble as you tip into the throttle from idle I'd suspect a vacuum leak.. possibly a rusted juice can. If it does it at other throtle settings then a bad TPS could be the problem, put a meter on it and look for glitches as you sweep the throttle through it's full range.
IAC was not the problem. Bought a new one and it acted the same. We actually unplugged the TPS and it runs fine now. Idles great and drives like it should. Wonder what the down side could be to leaving it unplugged?
