Question Cluster Issues - need advice !

Well my cluster started to act on me, I never pay much attention to it since the truck is mot my DD; but my DD broke and I been having to drive the truck for the past 2 weeks.

So about a week ago I took it to the stealer regarding the cluster issue and they told me I needed a new cluster.... I told them NO after asking a ball park of how much could it be $$$$$$$$$

So I came back home and started did my research, and find out about the bad connection on the back, long story short... took everything apart and find out that the cluster has some corrosion buildup by the connectors (last owner must've spill something in it) and it does need to be replaced.

I found one used in craigslist.com but the owner say that it came from a 2001 totaled f150 regular cab. I know on BMWs the cluster stores the milage and all of them are interchangeable as long you math they have the same cylinders (4,6,8), but I have not clue how ford works so here are my question to you guys:
  1. Will it work? mine in a supercrew cab.
  2. Will I keep my milage? his had over 200k my broken one last time read 114K
  3. Will the dealer adjust the miles? even with and used cluster?
Thanks.

Just remove the cluster and resolder the bad solder joint and it will work fine. It is stored in the cluster and the dealer can not reprogram the odometer.

Mine went out on my old 97 7.3 It had 170k on the odometer when it went out and I drove it for 6 months with the speedo intermitantly working after stealer wante 400 bucks for a new one. After searching I found one at a junk yard for 150 with 155k on it. You might keep looking around if the solder doesnt work. Could be pretty hard explaining the miles to someone if you ever want to sell it.

Well last time I took it off, I tried to clean the corrosion with some alcohol and a cotton swab, it clean up a bit but not enough.

Yeah I know, most of the clusters I found the sellers have no clue of the mileage. Last night I found an SVT cluster looks sick, but the seller has no clue about the miles in it...

I want to get someone as close as possible to the original miles.
