Has anyone noticed that no one on Craigslist can spell? I know everybody misspells words, but when its so bad you cant even tell what their trying to sell its hilarious. recent examples from our CL autos: " Mustig, 4 celander" and " Chrystler Townhouse car" ...........my favorite " Fork pickup"........Im not making these up.
Believe it or not many times there are "foreigners" who place ads in order to get your information.
But it isnt just the ones who list items it is the ones who answer. I put an ad in craigs list for a complete horse trailer living quarters. It was the fridge, oak cabinets, sink I mean everything. I stated first off in header horse trailer living quarters sale or trade. That I could see people maybe misreading but in my first line I put THIS IS NOT FOR THE HORSE TRAILER just the items for the LQs. I stated again that I was keeping the horse trailer but not the LQs. Three times total in ad. I got fifty plus emails for the horse trailer.
I posted my percheron "free to a good loving home" listed requirements etc I stated "free" I had 17 people email and ask what my price was for him. He is still with me.
We saw a listing last year for a Ford Ixcurshun. Must be same car lot as what you were looking at.
What gets me is are that many computers still in operation that don't have spell check, or is it people don't know how to use it?
Craigslist for selling is a joke IMHO. I tried it a few times & I got some strange people responding.
I use is to buy but that is all.
I love craigslist for buying and selling. When I lived in the lower mainland BC i used it all the time, and had great luck with it.
Ive looked past the spelling, but I can see how that is annoying. I can also see the relation like Ben was mentioning too. Some people need a head shake!

Same here, some STRANGE folks show up after some of the adds i have placed, not sure if i was going to let them on the property. use caution with unrelated valuables in sight. good friend was burglarized after showing items to multiple buyers....... you dont have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out!

Like you, I do use and think CL is good.
I used to buy and sell lots on ebay, but have found them to have slidden downhill the past few years, so use CL more now.
I have about $150,000 worth of stuff to sell in the next 4 to 6 months, and will likely sell most of it on CL.
I like Craigslist, much better than ebay is these days for larger items in your own area, and no listing fees. Last week I bought a snowmobile off of Craigslist.
Be prepared for lots of questions like that! Thats one thing i hate, and am guilty of with craigslist, lowballing!
No...
I too lowball when buying.
I find that a lot of the time stuff goes for a reasonable price.
On occasion someone gets a great deal, or really gets screwed.
But its up to the buyer to be sure to not overpay, or the seller to undersell.
I have so many sled parts, and mod motors, nos kits, turbos, complete sleds, several motorbikes, a couple trailers, and much more to sell.
I estimate if i waited a long time, and was super patient it may all sell in the paper, and local sales website for say 160K to 170K.
Instead I would rather sell it quicker and hope to walk away with say 130K.
I hate having stuff for sale for 6 months.
I would rather it sell in a reasonable time, even if I take a bit less for it.
You know...I typically agree with the whole, "get it out of my hair and take a bit less for it" mentality. But in your case...giving up $30k just cuz you don't want it around!!!!!!!!!????????? That's half of a decent year's salary. If you don't HAVE to get rid of it...why not wait it out, it's not hurting anything. When I apply the "get rid of it" theory, I'm usually willing to take $500-1000 hit on a truck or something. But I guess depending on how much stuff you actually have, you are taking the proportionate to that $500-1000 hit. Anyways, sorry for rambling, but when I saw you were willing to take a $30-40k hit just to get the stuff outta there...the Accountant and Financial Advisor in me kinda came unglued.
I understand what your saying, but its stuff thats built up for a while, and I never get around to advertising for sale.
So I need to start putting say 10 or so things at a time on CL, and will put in the paper to.
But if say a pipe I could maybe wait and sell for 300, I sell quickly and get just 225 instead, I am okay with that.
Or maybe a sled motor that I could wait it out, and eventually get 1700 for, instead I am happy to let it go for say 1400, but have it gone in a timely manner.
I have some minimum amounts I will take in my head for some items though.
Like my four place enclosed trailer, I am asking $8,500 for it, but will go no lower than $7,500.
I generally ask a bit more than I really hope to sell it for, as most people do, so there is wiggle room to negotiate.
