I have a 2005 E450 with the 6.0. I have most of the engine torn down and ready to look for a leak in the high pressure oil system. All I need to know is which pin in + and which is - on the IPR valve so I can jump it. any help? The wires coming from the harness are red, and a yellow with red tracer. Thanks

When I bench tested mine, per the wiring diagram, I applied 12 volts to the striped wire and grounded the solid. Only apply voltage for a few seconds as the IPR operates on a lower voltage. Make sure to have a fuse in the test lead also.

You got it WRONG. The solid red coloured wire is B+ that originates from the PCM power relay in the battery junction box, while the IPR duty cycle is controlled through the ground side of the circuit, which would be the yellow with red striped wire.

That said, you connect B+ to the RED, and B- to the YELLOW/RED to close the IPR valve.

I am chasing a no high oil pressure problem. I checks the IPR and with KOEO, it read 14.4. Cranking, it went to 77.6 everytime. Can anyone tell me if the IPR is shot? Should the percent go down or up while cranking?

I pulled the IPR to find the screen sucked in a bit with a 3mm tear and covered in debris. I'm getting a new one in about 2 hours....praying this is the fix.

That IS the fix, by what you've described.

Sorry for the dbl posting....my mobile signal is awful up here. I'm still a bit optimistic about this being the problem. How can a lillte bit of stuff on that screen screw up the oil pressure?

The IPR valve is only an actuator that defaults to the nomally open position. This means it exhausts most (or all) of the high pressure oil pump output to the crankcase sump when it's not energized. When the engine is started, it is COMMANDED by the PCM to increase duty cycle (to close), in order to increase ICP as needed. Remember, it is only an ACTUATOR. If a small piece of debris lodges up inside to jam it up, it can/will prevent it from closing, thus creating the problem you have. I hope you purchased the correct valve for your application, which is part number CM-5126 (for '05 to '07 model years).

Subscribing. Just started experiencing a HPO leak myself. My IPR screen was replaced about 6 months ago when I did my head stud job and STC fitting upgrade. I didn't replace the standpipes and dummy plugs when I did the job and the consensus id that's probably my issue.

Thanks,
