power tailgate latch to work with remote

Has anyone intalled or do they even make a power lock for the tailgate?? Kinda sucks to have to manually lock and unlock my tail gate when i just push a button to open my doors. just intalled a auto start and even have a seperate button that could be used to trigger a trunk latch or what ever you need it for . Any help or suggestions out there???

i remember seeing a person on here that installed a power actuator on his tailgate lock. It seemed like an easy install. i'll try to find the blog again. I believe it came from a power door lock system

It's really easy and inexpensive to do. Good luck!

Found a power tailgate lock and installed it tonight. The brand i found was from POP AND LOCK Part# PL8250 should fit all 97 and up ford pick ups and 99 ans up f-250 and 350. Intallation was fairly simple.
1. remove tailgate inner panel
2. remove 2 nuts holding latch mech to latch handle (take out)
3. slide in power latch
4. install short power cord up through drain hole in tail gate( i used one closest to tailgate support bar) Wire fish used in feeding electric wire helpfull in getting up through tailgate . Feed wire out through hole that tailgate support bar goes throughto under side of truck.
5. find power wires pink with red stripe and pink with black stripe (located then in drivers rear door on 06 super crew
6. run wire through rear box support from passenger side to drivers side, then follow wiring harness up to under cab at rear drivers side door ( removing spare tire helps in getting to inside of frame and to wiring harness,
7. found body plug in under wiring harness in side channel at rear drivers door popped out and feed wiring up through to tap into factory wiring ( did shorten wiring harness) it came with extra ends just for that purpose
8. tested to make sure lock locked and unlocked in sequence with doors ( tailgate unlocks with passenger and rear doors not everytime you open the drivers door)
9. about 1 to 1.5 hours to install taking time to run wires neatly to look factory

hopefully this helps anyone out that is considering a power tailgate lock. Will let everone know how it works over time , looks to be quality built.
Cost was around 90-110 dollars for kit
