I am tired of getting zapped when I enter or exit the cab of my truck. My ideal solution is a static strip that mounts to the chasis and drags on the ground. The problem I am facing is that I am not finding any "plain" strips. I don't want a pink one, or with Mickey Mouse figures on it, or advertisements for crappy websites. Anyone know of a good place to order one?
I don't know where to find one, but I'll be following this thread as well. I have this same issue. When I exit the truck, I get a little shock. What causes that and is there actually a way to stop it? Why isn't this issue resolved by the factory?
I had this problem as well and there is a trick to it. Just before you step out of your truck touch a metal section of your door and keep touching it until your foot is on the ground. Once your foot is on the ground you will be okay and you can let go of the door. You just have to train yourself to do it every time you get out of your truck.
I know that I can bond myself to the truck to avoid the shock, and synthetic fibers also contribute to static. If anyone knows of a 'good' place to order static grounding strips please let me know.
Mine does the same thing and someone told me to mix a little fabric softener and water in a spray bottle and spray in on all the fabrics. Haven't tried it yet myself though.
Thanks for all the support. Static problems usually only happen in the winter because of the dryer air and the synthetic fibers in our outerwear. I will have to check our local truck stops and heavy truck service centers.
I do agree with the "static guard" option, but the smell does get annoying. I will have to try the fabric softener and spray bottle option...first time I heard that one.
Thanks again for all the input, I really appreciate it...
