Decided to upgrade to an aftermarket stereo system the wiring was a disaster it had been upgraded before then returned to stock so all the wires were messed up none of the colors matched anything in any of the tech manuals but i got it hooked up however on the radio i have a red, black, and yellow main wires
Red is all the time power
Black Ground
Yellow is Also power i am assuming it is ignition power but i don't know where it is suppose to hook up I currently have it hooked in with the red wire for all the time power. Any insight as to where to hook it even though all my wires are the wrong colors
Next problem after i got it all in and the speakers are hooked up went to take the kids for a ride and what a suprise the damn thing won't start batteries are reading 6.9 - 7.1 volts on my programmer so what the hell did i mess up I did have the key on for quite a while trying to trace wires but wouldn't think it would have run both my batteries dead. Maybe it is just bad timing and my batteries are just shot but don't think that is the case. any help is appreciated.
Usually yellow is either Power ant. or clock constant power. Try finding a stereo harness adapter, they are PNP and worth the 30 bucks. Try charging your batteries or take to your local auto parts to get charged and tested for free.
I checked the voltage on the individual batteries the passenger is running at 15.9 and the drivers is at about 10 i'm thinking the driver side is shot probably time for new batteries
