Main and Rod Bearings w/o Disassembling Block
Hi guys,
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2001 F250 SC SB 4x4 5.4 126K that has a rod knock. While I'm guessing I will need to fully rebuild the engine, if the compression and cylinder leak-down test looks good I may be tempted just to put new rod and main bearings in it (assuming the crank is good and it hasn't spun a bearing.
Could this task be accomplished while leaving the heads on and the pistons in the cylinders? I know you can pull this off on some other engines, just wondering if it might on a 5.4.
Thanks,
Nate
